1904, Hillborn united with the Baptist Church in Coalton, OH where he was a trustee for many years. Formed the Dixon Quartette with brothes Willie, Everett, and Tilberry. Evertt moved to Dayton around 1926 and Hillborn's son Paul took over his spot. Bernice accompanied the quartet on piano when she was old enough.

The group were well known for their singing. They would also travel and sing at other churches.

Bernice and Paul went to "normal school" after graduating from Coalton high school and ended up teaching in one room school houses around the county.

Bernice, Dorothy and Paul moved to Athens county to teach because it was difficult to find jobs in Coalton. Abraham and Sarah did not want to split up the family, so on Aug 31, 1930 "home" was moved to Amesville, OH in Athens county.
